Born 1942 in Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture. Graduated from Waseda University School of Law. lawyer. Former Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
After having careers in running a ranch and a meat shop in Goto, he opened a law firm, and mainly tackled consumer finance issues.
In 1993, Yamada was first elected in the House of Representatives election and served as the representative for five terms. Later, he took a post of the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in the Democratic Party’s Kan cabinet, and contributed in realization of the income compensation system for individual farmers.
In 2014, he established the Yamabiko Gakuen school to support children’s development.
He currently serves as the joint representative of the counsel team for the litigation against the unconstitutional TPP negotiations, and as the representative of the association for protecting Japanese seeds.
He has written many books including the latest issue “Sale of Food Safety” (Kadokawa Shinsho).
